Well, with the second wave of Corona cases it is not surprising to see a sudden surge in the numbers. India’s Covid-19 ambit has caught the citizens’ off-guard amidst hope of doing away with and revival from this deadly virus.
Data from Union health ministry shows a sharp spike in the number of Corona positive cases and alarmingly, the nationwide tally is over and above 12 million or 1.21 crores precisely as on 30th March 2021. These facts are sure to create a ruckus in the physical and mental wellbeing of the citizens of the country. In the past one year, the disease has caused a mayhem in the lives of Billions of people worldwide. Millions have lost their loved ones and innumerable others have lost their sole source of livelihoods. After the vaccines were rolled out, people were so optimistic about better health conditions and revival of a sagging economy, across the board. But alas! With the increase in number of positive cases, the chances of revival are getting bleaker by the day.
Let’s let the Cat Out!
People testing Corona positive is a common thing these days and innocuous people don’t find anything dubious. But honestly, I have my own doubts. These alarming figures are definitely not what they look like. It’s very obvious for ordinary citizens like you and me to believe the figures by authoritative bodies. However, several incidents from the recent past have triggered the thoughts that the number of Corona positive figures are inflated and have been done so to best suit the vested interest of few renowned organizations and professionals. So, let’s dig deeper:
Case 1: One of my close relatives who is based in India and is a staunch theist wanted to visit Khatushyam temple situated in the state of Rajasthan. As per norms, she and her son got tested for Corona and much to their dismay they tested positive. Unable to bear the thoughts of not being able to see their deity, both of them underwent the test from a different laboratory, in the next 24 hours. Much to their delight, they tested negative and off they went to visit Khatushyam, Rajasthan. This might be a one on one case but who knows, how many such incidents go unreported. Don’t you think such FALSE and made-up reports add to the burgeoning figures?

Case 2: One of my clients from United Kingdom wished to travel to Dubai. He fixed an appointment for getting himself tested for Corona on a specific date. However due to some last moment work related exigency, he couldn’t go for the test and rescheduled the appointment. Quite normal, isn’t it? What was not normal and appalling was that the very next he got a report where he had tested positive for Corona! Poor soul was in utter state of shock.
So, don’t you think the numbers are being tampered and someone has to do a fact check?
Case 3: It’s a commonly known fact that after the onset of Corona, the sanitization business has boomed and several leading organizations have come up with innumerable sanitization products, especially the hand sanitizer. A month back, to everyone’s delight, when the number of Corona cases were declining and the vaccination drive had rolled out, I happened to visit the nearby Reliance Fresh Store for getting some groceries. I picked up two hand sanitizers so that it could last for a month. Now, when the billing was being done, I realized that the prices of the hand sanitizers had been slashed by almost 50%. I cross checked with the counter sales girl who said that since the demand for this item had reduced so they had no choice but to offer at a heavy discount.
This actually brought a smile on my face as I had to pay a lesser amount. But wait, was it just the tip of the iceberg? Was it a hint to a bigger mess that was underneath?
The above mentioned are few cases that I have personally experienced. Even though these are not conclusive, I really can’t stop myself from expressing my concern over the growing positive cases. These are absolutely unnerving and detrimental to the human psyche, physical wellbeing and the economy as a whole.
Scrutinizing the underlying facets behind these incidents:
The whole world is reeling under the perils of the deadly Corona virus. However, there are some barefaced beings who aren’t even thinking twice before encashing during these piteous times.
Dubious facts: After personally experiencing these malpractices by renowned organizations, I highly doubt the authenticity of the reported Corona positive numbers. Facts should be cross checked by an autonomous committee, lest people lose faith in the governing bodies.
This has to be brought across the board and shouldn’t be limited to the Indian sub-continent only.
The Medical fraternity has to take a cue: There were days when Doctors were considered to be “Gods”, but alas! We can’t say so for today’s times. Serving mankind is not what they vow for, it’s there financial avarice that they strive for. In this whole vicious circle of Covid-19 chaos, it is the medical fraternity that has made the most financial gains. Not to mention people’s common belief that Doctors are more of MBA than MBBS students these days. Well, I am sure there are some pious souls who have soulfully worked for humanity! Let’s not entwine then in these sinful deeds.
So, whoever has benefited from these tough times, they would definitely want the virus to linger for long. Sounds so sinister, isn’t it? But these are facts that can’t be hidden from public scrutiny. It is well known that Medical institutes, Doctors, Pharmaceutical companies and related ones have benefited the most during these tough times. So don’t you think it’s normal for them to think of ways and means to fuel the fear factor “Alive” by providing false Corona Positive reports so that the cases seem to be increasing by the day? Well, I leave it to you to decide for yourself!
Overpricing of essential items: Several thousand people have lost their jobs owing to the pandemic and finding it difficult to fend for themselves and their families. There have been several cases of suicides as well which is really very heart wrenching. These things however has no impact on the ballooning prices of essential items. I understand that some price rises are unavoidable since the economy needs to be balanced after a big financial jolt, but why increase the prices of everyday needs? Financial Big-wigs should carefully assess the situation and take decisions that is in the best interest of the common mass, and not to stuff the pockets of Political Biggies and Rich industrialists.
My heart bleeds when I, as a commoner try to understand the need of the hour. It’s high time that we highlight the anomalies in reporting of Corona positive cases and insist on making the process more transparent. This way the common man’s faith in the system would be restored and together we would be able to fight against this deadly disease. With this, I rest my case.
